In this prior post, the weekly excess death among those under age 45 in Canada for 2023 was shown to be consistently high. For perspective, here are the average percentage excess death values for 2023 in OECD nations with 5 million population or more:
The Netherlands and Norway also had highly-significant youthful excess death in 2023, while Hungary, Italy, and Spain had highly-significant deficits in death among the young — perhaps reflecting a “pull-forward” effect where youthful deaths of 2021 and 2022 diminished the youthful population so that fewer remained (to die later).
Canada — with an average weekly excess death of over 130% — sticks out like a sore thumb compared to comparable nations.
Let's hope and pray for reductions to normal figures are soon seen.
