For the elderly in New Zealand, deaths were very high in 2022 when compared to prior years. The peak month for death in 2022 was August. Here are the graphs for those of age 65 and up:
Age 65-75
When 2020 serves as the baseline, the peak monthly deaths in those from age 65-74 were 5.9 standard deviations above the mean of 2020.
Age 75-84
The peak monthly deaths in those from age 75-84 were 9.3 standard deviations above the mean of 2020.
Age 85-94
The peak monthly deaths in those from age 75-84 were 13.0 standard deviations above the mean of 2020.
Incredible. For the rest of the world 2020 was the Covid-19 year, but not for Australia and New Zealand. It does not make sense to blame 2022 on Covid-19.
