Jessica Rose recently broke down the cases, hospitalizations, and deaths in those in Nova Scotia — by level of vaccine dosing: 0 doses, 1 dose, 2 doses, etc. This post seeks to augment her initial findings, as well as amplify some aspects of it.
Jessica noted how it is that, whenever you take more vaccine doses, then you get more COVID cases, more hospitalization, and more death. But as that really bad cat is known to say, these yahoos play parlor games with categorizing recently-vaccinated people as unvaxxed.
To eliminate about half of that miscategorization of vaccinated people as being unvaccinated — because it hasn’t been 14 days since their dose — I only chose the groups with 1 dose, 2 doses, or 3+ doses.
I also restrict the time frame to beginning in the week that starts on 28 Jan 2022, a virtual guarantee that all COVID deaths in the charts below are from Omicron (a very, VERY weak variant of COVID).

Hospitalizations
Let’s see what happens to Omicron hospitalizations when you get lots of vaccine doses:
Only those triple-dosed had weekly hospitalization rates per million of over 200. Critics will claim that the age structure of these groups (each at a particular dose level) explains why hospitalization rates are more than double when you take lots of vaccine doses.
But for the final 4 weeks of the chart, hospitalization rates for those triple-vaxxed were AT LEAST quadrupled — and even age differences cannot explain a “quadrupling” in the hospitalization rates of the “more-extensively” vaccinated among us.
As was found in March of 2021, to use age to get to a point where hospitalization rates double, you must increase the average age of your study group by 16 years. To get hospitalization to quadruple requires a 32-year age difference.
The triple-vaccinated in Nova Scotia have spent over a month at over 200 weekly hospitalizations per million. Here’s some perspective about weekly hospitalizations per million in selected regions:
Deaths
The death data from Nova Scotia, with just over a million in population now, is more sparse and contains weeks when no deaths occurred in some of the groups. This makes analysis less valid than it is for the quadrupling of the hospitalization rate from high levels of vaccine dosing above.
Here are the weekly COVID death rates per million for the 3 levels of vaccine dosing:
With the caveat that these figures are either flat, nonexistent, or jumping around (an artefact of sparse data), it still appears to be the case that 3 doses of vaccine was more deadly to those living in Nova Scotia than 2 doses were.
A possible explanation is that those who were already on their third doses, for those weeks listed above, had more vaccine imprinting of their immune systems, making their immune systems unable to adapt to the mutations of the virus which created Omicron.
Either way, with Omicron, vaccines appear to increase both hospitalization and death. The triple-dosed were the only ones to see weekly death rates per million surpass 60 weekly deaths per million.
For perspective, here is a graph of weekly deaths per million in selected regions:
