A recent review found that among those over age 60 who had taken COVID shots, the rate of severe-critical COVID — the kind of infection which most often leads to ICU admission — was 4.9 per 1,000 person-years.

When put into a yearly rate per million, that’s equivalent to 4,900 per million person-years. Here is how it compares to the annualized rate of ICU admission per million:

At left are 16 nations where the weekly ICU admits per million were annualized and then adjusted up by a factor of 6x in order to estimate the elderly-only ICU admission rate. The factor of 6 comes from the “hospitalizations/cases” ratio for elderly vs. overall in flu seasons from 2014/15 up to 2018/19.

The ratio was 6 times higher for the elderly than for the all-ages (overall) population.

At far right is the reported rate of severe-critical breakthrough infections in the elderly using data up to November 2022 (about half Omicron variant/half pre-Omicron).

The rate of severe-critical breakthrough infections was much higher than all of the recent “whole-elderly-population” rates (both jabbed and unjabbed) except for in Germany — indicating that COVID jabs increase the risk of severe-critical COVID.
