Dr.
has been reporting on the recent CDC ACIP meeting, and I wanted to draw attention to the racketeering present at the meeting. It isn’t obvious until you compare the cost of drugs versus the cost of nutrients. Here is an estimate from the ACIP meeting regarding the cost:benefit analysis of new RSV vaccines in terms of the number of dollars spent for each quality-adjusted life-year gained:
Notice how it is that vaccinating people below age 65 is projected to save a life-year for about a quarter-million dollars ($218,000 to $373,000). But compared to vitamin D3, that price is horrendous. You can save a life-year with vitamin D3 for less than $4,000:

Notice how, in cell B15 above, that a human life gets saved for every $26,000 spent on vitamin D. If you were, on average, expected to live 26 years beyond your COVID infection, then that means that a “life-year” is saved for every $1,000 spent on vitamin D.
Because the average years of life left in those who died of COVID was 11.7 years, that implies that vitamin D would save a life-year for every (26,000/11.7=) $2,222 spent on vitamin D.
Cursory analysis makes vitamin D3 supplementation out to be more than 50 times more cost effective than RSV vaccines are (just like it was for COVID).
