I used a crude way to check the numbers: proportion elderly (age 65+)
While the enrolled placebo group had good representation of elderly (21% of sample, similar to France), the actual COVID cases show that the elderly were underrepresented somewhat (12% of cases, similar to Argentina).
Older people in the sample tended not to develop COVID.
Dualing interpretations might come from that, though, because the general sample appeared to represent the most-vulnerable group in relation to the general population.
Aren't you assuming that the placebo control group is similar to the overall population?
While I agree that if it was a well-designed study it should be it almost certainly isn't
