Note: This post adds to original findings about the rate of severe-critical breakthrough infections in those over age 60, by way of side-by-side comparison to recent Winter ICU admission rates in 16 nations.
If you only have an overall rate of hospitalization for all ages combined, and you want to transform it into an elderly rate, one method is to scale it up by a factor of 6x. The proportion of symptomatic flu infections which become hospitalized usually runs from 1.2% up to 2.0% for all ages combined, but stands at about 9% for elderly:
It’s curious that the eldery hospitalization rate per symptomatic infection always came out to this:
[Hospitalized] = 9.09% of [Symptomatic Infections]
But looking past that lack of numeric variation, and assuming CDC is telling the truth, elderly hospitalization rates run 6 times higher than the rate for all ages.
Severe-Critical Infection ~ ICU Admission
A recent review of breakthrough infection in those over age 60 found that the rate of severe-critical breakthrough infection in those who’ve been jabbed is 4.9 per 1,000 person-years. When severe-critical, it’s most-likely you’ll be admitted to ICU.
The authors of the review thought that that rate wasn’t high, so they dismissed it as being any cause for alarm. But when compared to the ICU admissions in the most recent Winter in 16 nations, look how high it appears:
The 16 bars at left came from a 9-week average ICU admission per million, multiplied by 52 to make it annualized, and then multiplied by 6 again to convert it from an all ages rate up to an estimated elderly-only rate.
Jabbed seniors did so bad after taking COVID jabs, that they were worse than all seniors (jabbed and unjabbed) in 16 nations last Winter. Evidence suggests that COVID jabs can put you into the ICU ward.
