In this prior post, the ballistic audio forensics analysis led to 3 unique estimates of 3 unique distances of shooters to the podium which Trump stood on:
—One shooter at 380-440 feet from the podium
—One shooter at 620-720 feet from the podium
—One shooter at 1,220-1,420 feet from the podium
The short-range shooter (380-440 feet from the podium) fits perfectly with the suspected shooter. It was also suspected earlier that there might have been a shooter on the water tower, but the audio signature appears not to support that suspicion. Here is the rough distance, in meters, from the podium to the base of the water tower:
Image obtained from Google Earth
At 3.281 feet per meter, the 240 meters becomes ( 240 * 3.281 = ) 787 feet from base of the water tower to the podium that Trump stood on. When the Pythagorean theorem is applied using 130 feet as a height for the water, the bullet trajectory would have travelled 798 feet from top of water tower down to the ground beneath the podium.
But, according to audio forensics, the middle-range shooter would max out at 720 feet away — assuming common rifle muzzle/average velocities. Had a shooter been on top of the water tower, there is too much distance to account for the 0.366 second delay from the time of the bullet snap to the muzzle pop.
NOTE: A “snap … pop” delay for a hypothetical shot taken from the top of water tower down to podium would be approximately 0.410 seconds
If average bullet speed is taken to be from 2600 feet-per-second (fps) up to 3280 fps, and the recorded “snap ... pop” delay is taken to be 0.366 seconds, then it would appear that a shooter at the top of the water tower can be ruled out. But keep in mind that this is amateur analysis on my part, so that it might not be the final say.
Ideally, there’d be confirmation of these findings by trained professionals.
